Sunnyside Community Center has been closed to the public since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic. During its closure, the space was rented out to the Yakima Health District, UW Labs, and Columbia Safety LLC to provide COVID-19 Testing to the community for free. The COVID-19 operation will close down on April 21, 2022 at 3pm. The week between the COVID Testing Closure and the Community Center re-opening will be used to clean the facility and train reception staff.

Tentatively planned the activities are as follows: May 2 will be a scavenger hunt in South Hill Park. May 3 is Coffee & Conversation with the Recreation office.
