Sunnyside City Council selects new City Manager

SUNNYSIDE, WA, April 11, 2022— The Sunnyside City Council announced this evening that they have unanimously selected Elizabeth Alba as the next City Manager for the City of Sunnyside.  Miss Alba has been employed in the City of Sunnyside since May 2014, starting in the Finance Department she soon became Department Head.  She has served as Interim City Manager since August 2021. 

When former Manager Martin Casey announced his departure, Miss Alba was appointed Interim and shortly after announced her interest in the position.  After evaluating her six months as interim as well as her success with City Budget and handling of the COVID rule changes, council felt she was indeed the correct candidate.

Alba was offered the contract at the Regular City Council meeting April 11 after an executive session, which she accepted.  By signing this contract, she becomes the first woman to serve as Sunnyside City Manager.

Mayor Broersma did not share details of the contract, but said that it is dated retroactively to take effect the first of April 2022.
