Recycling Bin Hours

  • 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Located at: 409 E. Lincoln Avenue

 (Please note, when recycling bins are full, staff will close gates to prevent the bins from overflowing. Yakima Waste schedules pick up of recycle bins. There is no set schedule. Times can vary.)

Recycling - Accepted Items

  • ONLY THESE PAPER ITEMS:
    • Newspaper
    • Corrugated cardboard boxes
    • Direct Mail
    • Cereal, cracker, shoe boxes (chipboard)
    • Office paper, copier and printer paper, file folders, note paper, computer paper, brochures
    • Magazines and catalogs
  • ONLY THESE METAL ITEMS:
    • Steel (tin) cans
    • Aluminum cans
  • ONLY THESE PLASTIC ITEMS:
    •  Plastic bottles:  #1 PET and #2 HDPE, soda bottles, water bottles, milk jugs, orange juice bottles and jugs, detergent and cleaning solution bottles


Recycling - Not Accepted

  • #3 - #7 Plastic
  • Plastic bags and plastic films of all kinds
  • Flower pots
  • Paper milk and paper juice cartons
  • Aseptic packaging
  • Shredded paper
  • Glass
  • Hazardous and medical waste of any type
  • Diapers
  • Fabric (textiles) of any type
  • Wire, rope, chain, garden hoses, Christmas lights
  • Wood
  • Trash (put the garbage in garbage bin)
  • Any item not on the listed on the Accepted Recycling Items list

Recycling Rules:

  • Recycling for residents use ONLY.  
  • No Commercial or Industrial Dumping. 
  • Comply with all recycling regulations.
  • NO toxic or flammable materials.
  • NO auto batteries, oils, or petroleum.
  • Close dumpster after use.
  • NO furniture or large appliances.
  • Keep area clean and litter free.
    • If you see recycled items on the ground, please be courteous and place them in the recycle bin.

 

Other RECYCLING TIPS

  • Please break down all cardboard boxes.  
    1. If you bring broken down cardboard boxes in a cardboard box, remove all cardboard boxes from the box and break down the remaining box. 
  • Do not use the recycle dumpsters for trash.
  • All Styrofoam packaging and material does not recycle.  
    1. Dispose of Styrofoam elsewhere.  
  • Please keep all items clean and dry.
  • Please do not recycle plastic bags.  
    1. Trash bags are not recyclable.

 

RECYCLING BIN INSTRUCTIONS

(Please put only the following recyclable materials into this bin.)

  • ALL PAPER
    • Accepted:
      • Magazines, Junk Mail, Envelopes, Newspaper, Flyers, Brochures, Writing Paper, Books
    • Preparation:
      • Just put clean, dry paper into the bin.
    • Not accepted:
      • Wet, waxed or coiled paper.
      • Used paper towels and plates.
      • Carbon paper.
  • CARDBOARD
    • Accepted:
      • Corrugated boxes, Paper Tubes, Wrapping Paper, Cereal Boxes, File Folders, Poster Board.
    • Preparation:
      • Flatten all boxes
      • Remove plastic or waxed paper liners and all Styrofoam packing material.
    • Not accepted:
      • Wet or waxed cardboard.
      • Wax coated beverage containers.
  • METALS
    • Accepted:
      • Tin Food Cans, Aluminum Beverage Cans, Aluminum Foil.
    • Preparation:
      • Empty and rinse cans to remove all food a liquid residue.
      • Flatten all cans.
      • Remove labels from all cans.
    • Not Accepted:
      • Cans used for chemicals or paints.
      • Aerosol Spray Cans.

  • PLEASE KEEP ALL ITEMS CLEAN AND DRY.
  • PLEASE DO NOT BAG RECYCLABLES.
  • NO GLASS.
