FLAG HONORS FOR THE US CAPITOL VICTIMS

WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 1.14 of the Sunnyside Municipal Code (SMC), the City Council has charged the Mayor with the authority to direct the lowering of the flag of the United States as a sign of respect on specified occasions; and,

WHEREAS, Jay Inslee, Governor of Washington has directed that the flags of Washington State be lowered to half-staff as a sign of respect for the service and sacrifice of the victims of the attack at the United States Capitol on Friday, April 2, 2021.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Francisco Guerrero, Mayor of the City of Sunnyside, Washington, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Washington and on behalf of the City Council do hereby order and direct:
The City Manager or his designee to lower the flag of the United States at all city facilities pursuant to SMC 1.14.030 effective immediately and that the flag remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this 2nd day of April 2021 and caused the Seal of the City of Sunnyside to be affixed.
